Staff Spotlight – Jack Tran— NEWS

Staff-Spotlight---Jack

Jack Tran joins Nacht & Lewis as an intern!

We are excited for this new chapter in his academic and professional journey. A recent transfer student to Sacramento State University from Cosumnes River College, Jack is pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Architectural Studies with aspirations to earn a Master of Architecture in the future. His knowledge in programs like AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and Rhinoceros3D began at Cosumnes River College, and he’s now eager to elevate those skills to a professional level. Through his internship at Nacht & Lewis, Jack hopes to gain hands on experience and deeper insight into the architecture industry as he continues to shape his path forward.

How long have you been with N&L?

I’ve been at N&L for about a month.

What’s your favorite type of cuisine?

I’m Vietnamese, so I love Vietnamese food. It makes me feel at home.

Do you have any pets?

I have two dogs! One is a husky named Mia and she’s about 11 years old. The other one is a mini poodle named Goose and he’s only about 10 months old.

Do you speak any other languages?

I speak a little bit of Vietnamese at home, and I studied Japanese in high school.

What do you do in your downtime? (Cook? Ski? Play sports?)

In my downtime, I like to sleep, hang out with my dogs, play online games with my friends, watch shows, and snowboard, if it’s winter.

What is your favorite movie?

Recently, I’ve been interested in the Dune movies.

What’s your favorite part of working in the AEC (Architecture, Engineering, Construction) industry?

This is my first job in the AEC industry, I don’t have much experience. Although, I think being an intern is a very surreal experience for me. It’s unbelievable that I am getting to learn and pursue my passion as a career. My favorite part so far has been learning the ins and outs of industry. Each of the projects I have had the opportunity to participate in have been great experiences and taught me so much.

If you weren’t an intern, what would you be doing?

I would probably be working at a Boba shop or visiting my father for a few weeks in Australia.

Favorite song or band/musician?

My favorite artist is Beabadoobee, she is a Filipino artist from the UK.

What inspires you?

There are a few things that inspire me. My family inspires me and pushes me to do better. Another thing that inspires me are goals and ambitions. I want to see a future where cities and the natural world are seamlessly connected. When I become more experienced, I want to inspire others to the do the same.

What’s one talent you wish you had and why?

I wish I was musically talented and had perfect pitch. It seems so fun to be able to play a variety of instruments and create music.

What’s your favorite season?

My favorite season is Autumn. Here in Sacramento, it feels like Autumn only lasts for a few weeks, so I like to cherish the season. I love the color of the leaves, the weather, and the holidays as it comes around during the season.

What’s your favorite holiday?

I love Halloween! The vibes of the holiday, and movies related to the holiday make me feel like I’m a little kid.

What do you like on your pizza?

At Mountain Mike’s, they have a chicken tikka pizza and it’s good. Other than that, combination pizza is my favorite.

Where would you choose to live: by the ocean, in the mountains or in the woods?

I would choose the ocean. The ocean provides a nice cool breeze.

What is your favorite thing to do in Sacramento?

I’m not sure if this counts as “Sacramento,” but I like to go to Roseville Galleria and hang out with my friends. I love shopping and hanging out at the arcade. When I’m with my brother, we play fighting games at the arcade for hours.
