Nacht & Lewis provided comprehensive design services, covering all phases from programming and planning to construction, for a 15,500 sq. ft. tenant improvement project. This project included the creation of a new infusion therapy clinic with a compounding pharmacy and an advanced psychiatric therepeutics clinic specializing in Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and other advanced therapies for treating depression.
The goal was to establish an I-2.1 occupancy clinic within an existing unlimited area building consisting of two different construction types (Type 2B and Type 5B) separated by an existing fire wall.
Due to the building’s age and history of housing multiple projects over the years, the previous architects and designers had applied a wide range of occupancy classifications. This variation made it difficult to determine the building’s suitability for an I-2.1 occupancy.
Nacht & Lewis conducted a comprehensive study and code analysis in collaboration with Jensen Hughes. The team also consulted with the UCDH Fire Marshal’s Office and City Building officials to demonstrate that the building could be classified as a viable accessory use and was suitable for the proposed I-2.1 occupancy.
