Kicking-Off Bike Month in May

Have you heard?
May is Bike Month!

What is “May is Bike Month”?
“May is Bike Month” is a campaign that takes place in the six-county Sacramento Region each year. The focus is to promote bicycle use as a mode of transportation whether for running errands, commuting, riding recreationally or working. It is a chance to showcase the benefits of bicycling — and encourage more folks to give biking a try.

What does biking mean to Nacht & Lewis?
Bicycling is a sustainable mode of transportation and sustainability is integrated into all of our work at Nacht & Lewis. We value our responsibility to minimize the environmental impacts of buildings through efficient design practices. Beyond our architectural work, biking is personal to us. There are many regular bike commuters in the office and we are using the “May is Bike Month” campaign to further encourage bicycling as part of the larger community effort. To us, bicycling means health and fitness, a greener commute, enjoying the environment and most importantly, fun!

How to participate?
A group of local organizations put together a great website filled with resources, challenges and tools to track your biked miles. As of today, the Sacramento Region has pledged to cycle nearly 1.5 million miles in the month of May. Nacht & Lewis is registered and we’ve set our goal for cycling miles this month. Anyone can join the movement, so check it out at and get to involved. www.mayisbikemonth.com

Happy biking!!
