Located on I Street between 16th & 17th Streets and built at a cost $40,000, The Grove Apartments signifies one of the first Leonard Starks projects acquired shortly after going into private practice but before partnering with E.C. Hemmings. It also carries the distinction of being one of his first in the Sacramento area, as it precedes the Fox Senator Theater.
The owner was Edith L. Grove.
The apartments figure prominently in a film called “Her Minor Thing” that was made in 2005.
Special thanks to Joanna and Maggie Valentine for providing the photos and information regarding this structure.
