Take It to the Streets – 2013 Sacramento United Park(ing) Day

Parking Day is tomorrow and our team is ready! Park(ing) Day is an annual worldwide event where artists, designers and citizens temporarily transform parking spots into public parks or “parklets”. Originally started in 2005 by Rebar Group out of San Francisco, Park(ing) Day has evolved into a global movement, with organizations and individuals creating new forms of temporary public space in urban contexts around the world.

Nacht & Lewis is headed into our second year of Park(ing) Day participation (check out our video from last year) and we are excited to set up our parklet tomorrow, Friday, September 20th from 12-9pm, between 20th & J Streets in midtown Sacramento as part of a “Sacramento United Park(ing) Day effort. The AIA Central Valley Chapter is drawing together the design and engineering community in Sacramento to transform the street into a series of temporary parks knitted together to raise awareness of green space and the urban fabric of our community.

Come visit us tomorrow to enjoy the transformation of 20th Street, eat local food and chat with the enthusiastic parklet community in front of the MARRS building between 12-9pm.
