PROJECT DESCRIPTION

This project involved renovating the existing Central Processing Unit (CPU) at the UC Davis University Tower. Key improvements included relocating and replacing washing and sterilizing equipment and updating the related plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems. The project also included:

  • Adding a new telecommunication room
  • Constructing a compressed air closet and a deionized water manifold closet
  • Creating a new rated corridor
  • Updating staff locker and toilet rooms to comply with the 2013 California Building Code

The purpose of this renovation is to expand the hospital’s sterile processing capacity. UCDHS plans to open additional pediatric and invasive surgical units in the near future. Reopening the old CPU, which was replaced when the Surgery and Emergency Services Pavilion (SESP) opened, is projected to increase capacity and productivity.
